STALL....
STALL....
I PASSED THE MSF CLASS LAST SUNDAY.
I CAN HANDLE ALL THE EXERCISE THEY SHOW TO ME.
EXCEPT BASIC SKILL ... WHICH IS STOP AND GO..
EVERYTIME I STOP AND GO, MY ENGINE STALLS...
ARGGGGGGGG
ACTUALLY, I BOUGHT 07 NINJA 500 AND DROPPED CUZ OF STALL.
CAN YOU GUYS GIVE ME ANY TIPS ON THIS??
I DON'T THINK I DON'T GIVE ENOUGH THROTTLE WHEN I RELEASE THE CLUTCH. BUT ONE THING SCARE ME TO GIVE THROTTLE IS
WHAT IF MY MOTORCYCLE LAUNCHES OUT WHEN I GIVE THROTTLE TOO MUCH.
WHAT TO DO IN WHEN YOU STOP AND MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN
HOW MUCH THROTTLE SHOULD I GIVE?

Give it some throttle as you let out the clutch, just enough to get the RPMs up a bit. Maybe a half or whole centimeter at first.
Work on finding the friction zone. This is the key to starting in first, always will be. Letting the clutch out slowly and giving a bit of throttle will get you going.

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

I had the same problem at first. Working the clutch and throttle in tandem isn't difficult per se, but a lot of people have issues with it. Just stay calm and keep working on it, you'll get it eventually. If you get mad, it'll just laugh at you.

as the others said, spend some time finding the friction zone. one of the first things we did in my class was work the friction zone and rock the bike back and forth. you should spend some time doing that. if you get comfortable with the friction zone, you won't have anything to worry about when taking off.
and through corners... remember to slow before entering a turn, push, and start to give a little throttle. it doesn't take much. turning was the scariest thing for me when i first started. i didn't trust the people behind me to slow down when i slowed down to make a turn. and i didn't trust my bike to lean and not fall out from under me. even though i knew better, i still didn't trust it. just take your time and practice. go find a parking lot to practice in or find times of the day that there aren't many people on the road. it'll get better.

Re: STALL....
If you let the clutch out slowly then the motorcycle will not launch (well, maybe if you are giving TONS of throttle). The key is to let the clutch out slowly... Just go to a parking lot, and practice letting the clutch out. As the bike starts to move, pull the clutch, then go to that spot, the friction zone, where the clutch is not completely out yet, but the bike starts to move.bria wrote: BUT ONE THING SCARE ME TO GIVE THROTTLE IS

You will get the hang of it. I still stall all the time on the car and bike for not giving enough gas

Try practicing in the grass. Because the soft ground makes it harder for the bike to start rolling which makes you better with the clutch/throttle thing, also if you drop it the scratches wont be as deep
when my brother frist tried riding my bike I made him start in the grass, he stalled several times before he got the hang of it but eventually it came to him

Lol, it'll be so slick if she/he pops the clutch the bike we'll just fly out from under them...littledoug1 wrote:Try practicing in the grass.
