break in period please help =[

I have no idea if i screwed up or not... I have put about 55 miles on the bike in the past 5days. I am absolutely horrid at down shifting so i just "tat-tat-tat" threw the gears with clutch in as I'm approaching a stop i dunno if its good or not but i dunno how to do it any other way. Secondly with the break in I THINK I've been following the break in rules but I have deffentily gone over the recommended 4,000 rpm limit more then i wish i had =[ especially when approaching turns i begin to slow down trying to down shift and i guess i don't match the engine speed with road speed and the engine just revs or what ever it does in that situation. I have been going up to 6th gear (i think the 250r has 6 gears or 5) just to keep up with the speed limit. Is that normal? Or in 3rd-4th gear should i be going 30+mph. If anyone could explain to me if I have blatantly screwed up the break in even with 55 miles or what i should do from now on until 500miles please let me know.

I have also kept it for a steady rpm at like 5,000 maybe but for no longer then 30 - 40 seconds how bad is that?

It own't hurt to go over 4K rpms once on a while during break in. It's probably a good idea to do just that to make sure the seals seat all the way around, and when you're passing someone you kind of have to.

You can vary the rpms as easily as varying your speed and not staying at any particular speed for any period of time. Mostly don't worry too much about it. The engine won't blow up if you run at 5K for a little bit, just try to keep it in the recommended range, but don't obsess about it.

Bike engines as well as new car engines might be different, but when a friend of mine finished rebuilding an engine he would rev it up to very high RPM's and hold it there for some time. When I asked "are you crazy" he said if it is going to blow best do it now. I know those seals were seated and I put 175 thousand miles on that 350 engine and it still ran great when I sold it.

I was told I could take it to the redline but not to stay there. Vary the rpm, and DON'T put it on cruise control to drive a 100 km. You definitely should vary the rpm....

when varying the rpm it doesnt mean like skip 1000rpms does it just mean adjust your speed a little bit let the rpms drop a tiny bit ?
