We learn to like what we have. I like my computer...it is just inadequate but the extra memory should solve it.

I generally use things until they really don't work anymore or they have outlived their usefulness.
The thing is that the newer Intel processors can run Photoshop much quicker as well combined with more RAM. For Photoshop 2GB is good and 4GB is the best since it is a resource intensive program. Discrete/ add-on graphics cards can also speed up photoshop as well as movie editing and maybe more stuff in the future. PCs from Best Buy are pretty cheap and come with 3GB of RAM and a good Core 2 Duo or Quad Core.

As for me I have 2GB in my MacBook, 2GB in my desktop and both are running Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz. I added a nVidia GeForce 8800GT and life is good, I can do stuff from CAD to gaming as well as stuff for my Forensic studies. Now if The Sarah Connor Chronicles are true I must destroy my computer in the near future... it's getting more powerful each time.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

She is the mother of John Conners.

Sarah Jeanette Connor is a fictional character, the heroine of the first two Terminator films and the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She was played by American actress Linda Hamilton in the films and is currently portrayed by British actress Lena Headey in the TV series.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Thank you for the information. No, I haven't had a chance to look into getting extra memory yet.
If I read that site correctly....or if their info is correct....it looks like I can actually upgrade to 1Gig in each slot.....
I will be sure to look into it.
Thank you.

That depends on how old your motherboard is. I would read the specs about your motherboard as it "may" not accept 1 gig in each slot.

Just a quick note, unless you're on Vista, I seem to remember XP having very little returns on memory over 3.3gb, due to the design of the operating system.

And yes, the crucial link you have there goes directly to the Sony VAIO VGC-V517G Desktop/PC, you may want to browse to your correct pc/motherboard. May want to start here - http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx

I also use the UK crucial website for memory too, they're usually hard to beat on price, and prompt at shipping over here

It's not a problem of XP or Vista, it's a 32-bit x86 issue.
