How nice if George could redirect a few Billion of unappreciated and corruptly handled foreign aid to fix things up over at the Smithsonian, and maybe feed some of the hard-up folks right here in the US of A. Some foreign government officials wouldn't get to line their pockets, but what the heck, maybe next time.
im all for helping people dont get me wrong its tragic how other countries have so many people suffering. But if we cant feed our own people here we dont have any business trying to feed the rest of the world. you shouldnt step over your own family members to go help your neighbor first.

theres way to many homeless jobless starving people right here, and that isnt helping things. youd think theyd be smart enough to realize the more people working and making a good living in the US would be more people paying taxes.
What's funny is that someone's friend who's in a peace corps. is in an African country where they don't have much to live on but they also don't really want our help. They'll listen and such but would rather do things their way.

The problems with Tibet and China are going to be fun to watch since the US claims to be about freedom and democracy but China is our biggest trade partner.

Anyhow, declining dollar and higher gas prices with pols spending much of our needed funds to fight some useless war (except for Afghanistan which was kinda justified) is causing the US to be in a big craphole.

In the paper there was an interesting story though, only 200,000 Americans made it into the $1 million mark (USD) or millionaires which is down 3 percent from last year. WTF? how are millionaires being made everyday? Where can I get some of this?

Gas right now is really expensive. I go for biofuel now because it is way more cheap.

The problem with biofuels is that we need to grow more crops which will increase their prices. Then there's also the need for more land to grow these crops which means more deforestation. I was reading in Time Magazine about how the Amazon is being cut down further to make room for more farmland for biofuels which in turn increases CO2 since there are less trees taking in the gas.

Well I say one thing, the number of bikes on the road is growing like crazy down here due to the cost of gas. Val and I saw a couple of newbies out practicing last weekend and it brought back fond memories. Even though they were unstable you could see the S..t eating smiles a mile away.

The price of commercial diesel was averaging US$4.00 per USG in the lower 48. A fully load tractor-trailer unit hauling 44,000 lbs of cargo get between 4 to 5 miles per USG at best. That means it cost between US$0.80 to US$1.00 per mile to move goods via truck for fuel alone. Damn near everything we use or consume moves via truck somewhere along the supply chain.

Upshot: Expect to be paying more for your basics as the cost gets passed on to the consumer. Also, expect shortages of various products as truckers leave the industry in droves because they can no longer afford to run their rigs and still have a life.
Always ask why.

Everything is getting expensive down here. Heck me and Val went to what should have been cheap dinner and man I was knocked over by the costs.

I pay 26.5 US cents per liter.

That 1 US dollar per 1 US gallon.

Lovely isn't it? And I drive an economy car, what am I thinking?

But you have access to plenty of oil wherever in the middle east you are.

wow a thread still being posted on that was started in 2005. I just put gas in my mini van at $3.38/gallon. glad I can finally start riding my motorcycle at 60mpg. Honestly the cost of gas doesnt keep me from doing what I want. I look at it as the cost of having fun :D.

However what "pee"'s me off is some of the government officials we have. They are complete idiots. In michigan they want to add 50cents/gallon of gas tax's because they "think" it will make people use less gas and to go out and buy alternative fuel vehicles. Are they idiots or what. HELLO have they looked at the economy? People cant afford to pay 30grand for a new alternative fuel vehicle let alone pay for gas to get back and forth to work. You think the economy is bad now in michigan wait till they add the tax. no one will be able to afford to do anything but buy groceries. plus many other problems that will cause.
