I am more used to $150. It is criminal what they charge for labor. They seem to rate by half-hours.
It's unfortunately a necessary expense. If there is an engine problem, it will typically show itself in the break-in period. If you don't do the break-in services, they can say you voided the warranty, and you are then SOL with a problem engine.
Look at your manual. It should tell you what they are supposed to do on the break-in services (and what you should do), at least Kawasaki's manuals do. You might find a part they are supposed to replace or at least look at and mark it with a grease pencil. Sometimes, if you don't watch them, they will just do an oil change and charge you for the tune up.

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

They told me they had to adjust the valves and some other things...Do I have to go to to the dealership I bought it from? Not that I mind the place..Just currious...

Re: 600 mile
That's one reason most people bite the bullet and take it to the dealer for the 600 mile service. Checking and adjusting the valve clearance can be a real pain on many bikes. After that, most bikes go several thousand miles until it has to be checked again.Funderbird wrote:They told me they had to adjust the valves and some other things...Do I have to go to to the dealership I bought it from? The other reason is that the dealer has the opportunity to check/tighten up the major components that they put together during assembly (bikes come partially assembled in crates).
I've been working on bikes long enough so that I can do my own 600 mile service, but if you're not an experienced wrench, it may be worth it to have a dealer check it out. They know what to look for in a newly assembled bike. It doesn't have to be the dealer you bought it from.

Wow...sounds like mine... I just bought a 2008 C50T and have 85 miles on it......I want to get some more miles on it so I can take it in for it's 600 mile service....
Since I knew this had to be done, I set aside $250 bucks just for this work.....
I think my dealer charges $150.....I think that's what he said.....
