KBB vs. NADA

#1 Unread post by stevep »

Why is there such a difference in the values shown by KBB and NADA? The same Triumph Bonneville is $4360 KBB and $2585 NADA

my guess would be Nada shows you what you would get if you traded it into a dealership and the KBB shows what you can get selling it on your own.

^^KBB's website allows you to do either private sale, or trade in, and it's always higher than NADA. Suspect it may be because on KBB, you have to input a lot more info about the vehicle to get the price.

Actually the KBB website gives estimated value of a "Trade-In," as in what a dealer would give you for your used bike, and "Retail-Value" as in what a dealer would price a used bike for sale. IMO, a reasonable "private sale" price is about halfway between those two values.

What you are selling is only worth what someone will pay for it. KBB and NADA are guidelines not written in stone.
If you are trying to score big selling a used vehicle you are kidding yourself.
