Year and a half (well, I still have it, but that's when I bought bike #2...) More important than time, I think, is miles accumulated; I only racked up 4,000 on the first bike.

2 1/2 yrs. so far and no plans for upgrading this year.
I always follow the rules.
The only exception to the rule occurs when I make an exception to the rule not to make an exception to the rule and that only occurs under exceptional circumstances.

A year and two months so far, still don't feel the need to upgrade.

Like 6 months but I only jumped up to a 400cc bike after my 250. I put 2000 miles on it and felt comfy riding so I upgraded.

one year and 28000km on my GS650GL (I4) before I moved up to my KLR650 (650cc single). Went from 67hp to 40hp, but I'm much happier with the KLR

I had my first bike for about a year. I would have kept it longer, but had to get rid of it for financial reasons.

I kept my first bike for about 5 years, although it was only two years until I bought my second bike. I kept the first one around for riding around town and used the bigger bike for road trips and weekend trips.
