I too am a chicken. I will likely follow suit and do it the manufacturers way as well. I just know I wont feel right about it either way, lol.

Around here, they're saying "not over 6 grand duiring break-in but I have heard others say 4 grand in the States so what's the deal? At 4 grand you're hardly even moving on the 250. 6 grand is barely ridable without being a traffic hazard.

It makes more sense to me to start off easy and increase things gradually during the break-in period. Doesn't make sense that magically after break-in you can ride it like you stole it - all of a sudden??

Warm it up before riding out; vary the engine speed in all gears as much as possible to help seal the rings evenly and gradually work the RPM's up as you go. Never had a problem with this method. Been up to 8 grand already on the new 250 and it's only got 40 miles on it. Oh; by the way; it starts making some decent power after 6 grand :D
