Buying Advice opinions between 2 fzr600r's

Looking at getting my first bike and have passed my tests but havent ridden in 3 years since taking the msf. The bikes are both fzr600's and looking for any advice on which one you would choose.

First is a 1995 Always heated garage kept. No rain rides. New Avon tires, Vance & Hines pipe, steering damper included. Corbin seat. Fox clicker shock. Forks w/upgraded springs, seals and dampening set for the track. K&N filter kit. Flush mounted carbon fiber look signals and levers. Carbon fiber plugs and add on's. Bike looks and runs like new. Extra plastic and other spare parts included. Under 12k original miles. Adult owned and maintained clean title, never been raced supposedly but is all set up for it and has numbers on the tail. It is also 60 miles away so have not been able to do a close inspection yet just pictures. Asking $2800 dropped from $3500

Second bike is a 1997 with 20,000 miles, new back tire, chain, battery, new oil. plugs and wires, the original plastics look very good with no scrapes with very light scraping on right handlebar end and right peg nothin major or bent. Owner pointed out it would need new back brakes soon but would be fine to ride for a few hundred miles or so and also that all the signals lights and horn worked but the kill switch did not. It's local so I went to take a look and the owner answered every question I had about it and it seemed to have been well maintained and stored inside. He cold started it while hooked up to a charger and aside from a little white almost mist in with the exhaust for the first couple minutes, it looked and sounded great. asking $2500 and only selling because he bought a new ninja zx6r which was in the garage as well. My gut tells me the local guy is definitely on the up and up and was very honest and helpful where the other guy seems to be a little shady about the history and use but I don't know much about anything.

I'd personally choose the one that doesn't have the power/weight ratio of a Bugatti Veyron.

Yep, doesn't mean I wouldn't rock those, but not as a first bike!
Seriously, check out a Suzuki GS or Ninja 500. To be honest they'll outcorner a 600 but are much more forgiving overall...

You should choose neither because they are way to big for a beginner.

Test rode the gs and lacked any acceleration and riding position was a little too upright for me...the ninja 500 I'd buy if I could find one around here used but they are never up for sale only new. Pretty much same for the 650 ninja and zuki sv650 which I'd also jump on. I'm 6'1 and weigh around 230-240 so it also takes a bit to get my "O Ring" movin. Thanks though for the advice, I definitely don't want something that will lift the front end on me too easily so i'll pass on the 600 after looking it up and seeing it makes 100hp which is wayyy too much, but I also need something that will handle the expressways too since they are everywhere.

What kinda car do you drive that 5.5 seconds isn't fast enough zero to sixty?

Hell, my 20 year old 535cc V-twin Yamaha gets me and a passenger up to 60 than my Grand Am.

03 cobra and it's a little over 4 seconds 0-60 and mid 11's in the 1/4. I'm not all about speed for a motorcycle but I'll be coming on and off expressway ramps on a daily basis and want the power to be there when needed...with my weight and experience I don't mind sticking to a forgiving bike but would rather have the 650 or at the very least the 500r for that little extra oomph.

Neither is a good choice for a new rider, especially since its been so long since you took the course. Retake the MSF first. You never got a chance to 'bind in' the newly learned skills of the Basic Riders Course.

Barring that, look for something will less horsepower, plastic and torque to get started on.

As others have said, those bikes are too much for a beginner. the GS500 has enough speed an acceleration to get on a highway, and cruise without any trouble.

Maybe the one you rode had something wrong with it (like only running on one cylinder), because those are fast little bikes.

Also, I think you're the first person who has said they have a car faster than their bikes. But, I do have a hard time believing a Cobra would do 0-60 in 4 seconds, and still be street legal.
