Alright, Im extremely new to this, but its something I really want to try...and do it right the first time
I've read in some posts that a motorcycle permit is required in order to enroll in the Ride Rite classes [I'm planning on going to the Woodland Hills location], and I've also read that its not true..can someone please clarify this for me?

I would see if you can talk to the instructor as this ability to teach new and returning riders, he can make or break your learning experience.
I Took a knock off MSF class that used MSF books and exercises and I thought it was very good. Be sure if it is not a official MSF class that it does cover the same knowledge area and riding exercises.
After that, it is all up to the skill to teach of the instructor. Thats why you should speak to him/her and see if they fit your learning style/personality.
