1980 Suzuki DS80

#1 Unread post by choppy216 »

I just restored a 1980 suzuki ds80 and i am having problems. The bike starts and runs fine through midrange but bogs and wants to die a full throttle. Been through the carb numerous times plus has a new carb kit in it. New top end, reed valves are good, also has new crank seals except for the one behind the clutch. Timing issue or bad points? Never ran into this issue before and any help would be appreciated! Thanks :frusty:

At a guess...

Still a restriction/too small main jet issue.... even though you have been through the carbs, it happens....

How's the exhaust? Especially the silencer, a less than total restriction can choke the engine off at high RPM. So can a restricted air filter.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

New main jet and the jet below that is unplugged. New air filter and i pulled the silencer out and ran it and still no difference. I kinda wonder if my points are arcing at high rpm? Thanks for the reply let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks
