Listening to music while crusin'

Any recommendations for stereo earbuds for Ipod listening while crusing? Is a $100 set significantly better than a $25 set? Any particular brand or style that will stay in the ear canal better than others?

Whatever works best for you is the best there is. I had a pair of Turtle Creek ANR earbuds - active noise reduction. Personally I've never found earbuds comfortable, but that's just me. Yes, a $100 pair will be better than the $25 pair, but on a bike do you really need to be that big an audiophile? Find a cheap pair that feel okay, and you're good to go.

Here's a tip - I bought my last two pairs with reward points off credit cards. If you have any rewards program the earbuds are usually pretty cheap (least amount of points necessary) so they'd be free, nothing beats free.

I bought some $20 helmet speaks off eBay--they work great, don't have to go in the ear. I did find, however, that music was too distracting for me while riding. I like it in the car, but on the bike it was a distraction.

I'd spring for something cheap first, just in case...if you like riding with music, then you might want to buy something better. JMO.

Gee, HeathersWheels sells speakers, and she just happens to be a member here. It might be an idea to support one of our own. Check out her site.

Steve and his buddies helped make my dream of owning and riding a motorcycle come true. We have lots of pics of the guys modifying our Goldwing to carry my wheelchair. Before my Goldwing I had a 2005 Ural Tourist motorcycle. You can see more of that on the Modifying the Ural photo story pages. The proceeds from selling helmet speakers have been emensely helpful in funding my ride habit. I have been selling helmet speakers since December 2005.

I use these, sennheiser CX 500 on my ipod for riding.

They fit right inside the ear, and they dont seem to get disturbed when putting your helmet on or off either.

Weather you guys listen to tunes or not makes no difference to me but just remember that your replacing one noise with a louder one to overcome the surrounding noise, it your ears so do what you want but while your rideing you might want to start practicing HUH,,Wadd you say, mind repeating that, sorry I didn't catch that,,,to name a few.

yeah, i've thought about listening to music when riding but the hearing is something i want to protect. i've thought about using earplugs and the speakers that heather sells. i figure i would need to build a little amp to run the signal through but that's been my thoughts.

I'm using CX300, they are good too. About $50.
