Parking Lots
Parking Lots
Here's a real newb question - how do you go about finding a good parking lot to practice in - or more specifically you need to ask permission right? I live near an industrial park with pretty empty lots on the weekend and ussually cars around till pretty late in the week - never thought about this till now - thanks for any tips
Where do you live? If you have a grocery store really close... well lit good neighborhood type of thing I would imagine that it probably wouldnt be a problem to do it after they close. But then again I live in a nice part of Orlando, FL so not dangerous at all and always over 70. And very suburban as opposed to big city feel. So depending on where you live something like that might be an option.
I do live near a gorcery parking lot but it is ussually full till late - like nine - there are lots that I could approach people for - I was just trying to get a feel from anyone on whether or not that is even necessary or if it is proper etiquete(sp) to ask or if in general people are cool with newer motocycle riders using their lots for practice or if because insurance reasons they are not - I live in southeastern Wisconsin outside of Milwaukee - suburbs -

I've seen people use abandoned store lots, school parking lots, etc., a lot. Not just with bikes, but with cars, too. Some will even have the cones set up and everything. I don't know if any of them are part of a certified course or something similar, nor do I know if they have asked the place for permission. Well, ok, if the place is abandoned, there really isn't anyone to ask for permission.
Good question. I hadn't really thought about this until now, so thanks for brining it up. I'll have to look into finding a good parking lot to practice my falling.

To practice in a parking lot, don't you still have to ride the streets to get there?
How about a church parking lot? They are usually abandoned during the week. We used to play rollerblade frisbee in this big church parking lot. Not only was it abandoned during the week, it was perfectly paved as well.
