Now I'm sure that the figure 8s and the U-turns in the box are tighter in the ERC than the BRC but I was amazed that some of these guys(all on cruisers) that could not perform it without touching their foot down!
Maybe these guys should take the BRC course too.
Actually, the box dimensions are BIGGER for the ERC (by about 4 feet each side), to accomodate big cruisers, etc. But you're supposed to use the "regular" dimensions in the ERC if your bike is less than 1000cc.

My guess is those guys were touching a foot to keep from having to pick the bike UP - if it fell. They learn the hard way just how heavy those beasties are and most never really take a chance and learn the technique without having to toe touch.

I've seen a Harley Ultra Glide (or whatever the biggest model is) do the box using only half the length... without touching a toe, and with a passenger. His "angel bell" jingling merrily as it dragged the pavement.

That's exactly what the instructor had as a personal ride. He flew around the cones complete with the obligatory scraping of the floorboards. He threw that behemoth of a bike around the course like it was a 250 Rebel.
