2005 GSX-R 600 Bogging

#1 Unread post by yellowgsxr600 »

Alright this bogging down while sitting at stop lights is getting annoying. Its been doing this when it gets above 194 degrees for the last year. Every time I replace the plugs it goes away then after about 3,000 miles it comes back (plugs look fine nice and clean). Talked to my LBS and he said the gixxers when they get over 194 degrees dumps more fuel in the engine to try to cool it off. I have had this bike since the start and it didn't do this then just with in the last year. Is there any way to tell the computer not to dump as much? Or is there another problem we are not seeing.

I need to know a few more thing though. Does it die when it bogges down or just drop in rpms? Does it bogg when you try to give it gas or not? By what you have said I would start with looking at the choke first then the fuel pump. Or the relays that control them. You see if you add more fuel to the mixture after the bike is hot then it will kill it and you could not go without killing it. So who ever told you that when it is warm more fuel goes in to cool it down has no idea what they are talking about. I worked on a R1 about a year ago that did the same thing and it turned out to be the starter relay because it also controled the choke and fuel pump.
