1996 Yamaha Virago 535

#1 Unread post by scottn20 »

Hey there, I have a 96 virago 535 and it won't start. I just replaced the battery and all the lights come on. The turn signals won't blink but they are on. The horn won't work either. It doesn't seem to do anything when I try to start it. there's no clicking noise, nothing. Any advice as to what might be the problem?

Bad starter or starter relay.

First clean and check the electrical connections at the starter.

Test the starter by shorting it to a battery. If the starter tests OK, replace the relay.

Were the horn and turn signals working before? If so, they should be working again, now that you have a new battery.

Did you charge the new battery before installing it?

I changed the plugs and checked the starter and everything else today. I think it's down to the fuel line or the filter is clogged. Everything else is working now.
