I got a silly question for ya. When you're riding and want to stop for a cold drink or snack, what do you do with your helmet? Do you lock it on your bike or take it in with you? I just don't want to look and act like a newbie, if you know what I mean...Thanks for your responses.

Same here. Partially because I'm afraid of theft, but mainly because I figure if the helmet's left out in the sun, it'll be real hot when I put in on (and its service life will be shorter as well).

I take it with me, I don't trust the "youth of today" around my helmet... I like to know whats happened to it

I agree with taking the helmet with me. I dont trust people but my bike can handle a little more damage than my helmet can. Helmet will save my life whereas a bike cant. Plus, though I believe it will change if it hasnt already, its illegal to ride without a helmet and if someone wants that helmet no bike lock is gonna stop them from ripping the strap off.

+1
Lift Visor
Apply Stanley knife to chin strap
Walk away with helmet in 15 seconds flat
No thanks, I'd rather keep mine with me...
Likewise for kids who see something that is designed to take impacts, and a pile of stones/sticks/ whatever else to test it with

Always take it. For all the reasons above and one more. Never know when an earthquake will happen where I live and it might save my life if I have it with me.
Depends on how long I'm going to be gone. If a few minutes, I'll lock it on the bike. If longer, I'll take it with me. If I'm with my wife and she's using her big bike (Triumph Trophy) with its mammoth top box, we'll lock the helmets in there.
