I'll guess its an early 80's XZ550 "Vision", that is the best I can do after a quick search on Google images.
There is no such thing as a bad motorcycle.

Looks like a v-twin so its not an XJ. Maybe a v-four? You sure it's a Yamaha?

I'd probably name it "William" if it's a male bike, or "Christene" if it's a female. :P

Thanks for the input... it is a Yamaha, or atleast it has Yamaha tags on the bike and Yamaha YICS on the engine. Attached are pics that I pulled from google that led me to think it was the XJ650 as they are pics of an '82 XJ650rj Seca.

Looks like a Vision to me. Vision was the posterchild for the Japanese overproduction fiasco in the late 70s/early 80s when Yamaha foolishly declared war on Honda. Visions retailed for over $3,000 but could be had for as low as $1200 brand new as tons were sitting in warehouses still in their crates. There was nothing wrong with the Vision. It was a fine bike; but between Yamaha's overproduction and America not being ready for a liquid cooled V-Twin which cost more than an air cooled four and much slower, it was a sales disaster.

Looks more like an early 1980s Yamaha Seca 750 to me.

That Seca 750 was an air cooled, inline-4 engine. The "mystery" bike is clearly liquid cooled, and with a vee engine.

The mystery bike is a Yamaha Vision.
