Wondering what everyone uses to wash their helmet visors.
So far I've just waited until it rains, which actually works pretty well.
Is water and a cloth sufficient, or should I buy some plastic cleaner?

I always would play it safe and contact the maufacture to see what to and what not to use. I am not sure how "Rain-X" would work. They use a product like this on small aircraft to help the propwash clear the rain off of the windshield (some small aircraft do not have winshiel wipers).

DO NOT use RainX unless you find one made specifically for plastic.
Get yourself to the nearest cycle shop and buy some visor cleaner, like Plexus (in a blue and black can, even comes in a tiny tank bag size). Or Zooke - which also keeps your visor from fogging, yes REALLY! Cat Crap works as well, which you'll find at ski shops, I hear.
Bug guts are slightly acidic, you need to get them off ASAP.
Also, get some of those soft flannel car detailing rags - yellow in the auto dept of Walmart. Or dedicate a few soft old t-shirts to the task. Never use paper towels or other paper products (unless you're desparate) on your visor, the wood fibers will scratch the plastic over time.
You don't realize how dirty your visor is until you give it a good cleaning... (OW! I can see!)
Happy riding!!
