Crazy riders

My wife was driving to the dentist the other day. She said she was doing about 55 on the freeway and a person on a "Blue Bike" split the lane between her and another SUV, She went on to say the bike was going so fast it was four car lengths up in a couple of seconds. She then chastised me for talking about splitting cars. I had to explain to her that I do it at 20 MPH in grind lock. Does anyone else see crazy riders?

im a crazy rider. If I have to follow someone doing 10mph under the speed limit I pass as soon as I possibly can (safely of course) and sometimes that means passing when we turn onto another road. I cant stand going under the speed limit. I guess I am getting irritated more than ever because it seems like slow drivers have increased 200%.

55 on a California freeway? And she made it home in one piece? I'm more shocked by that little factoid than the guy speeding past on the bike. I see crazy riders here from time to time. Doesn't bother me though. All that speeding and weaving in and out of traffic, for what? So they can get to the red light ten seconds before I do? I'm real impressed.

At the 163 and 15 interchange it gets kinda slow...People can't seem to look and merge into the other freeway at speeds above 55...

Yup - got crazy riders here in S. Florida, too. Wheelies on I-95 - how's that for nuts? I don't even like I-95 in a car, much less doing something totally assinine for no apparent reason (other than if they happen to be filming a movie - which, 9.9 times out of 10, they're not).

Anyway, it's stunts like the ones stated here that give the majority of us safe riders a really bad name and reputation.

Wheelies on the free way, I once thought it looked cool. I flipped my old bike at 55...Was not so cool. There is one particular kid that pulls a wheelie right out in front of the marine base I live on. He is very good at it, but luck will eventualy run out. he starts off about 1/2 mile from the main gate and he even changes lanes. I was riding down miramar Rd, comming back home. I look in my rearview and he changed lanes on one wheel, screamed past at 60-70 then kept it up all the way to the next light. About 2 miles. Impressive but stupid.

55 on the freeway??? I'm surprised she didn't get rear ended by a semi.

4 car length in a couple of seconds is also about 20 mph faster so the bike was going 75 mph which is probably normal speed on the freeway.....

Yeah here in Washington State there was a news report about 6 - 8 riders in all four lanes of I5, blocking traffic and doing wheelies. They weren't going real fast on I-5, probably about 60 mph, instead of 70 or faster. Then after about 10 minutes or so, they took off before the cops showed up. It's becoming more and more a way of life up here.

I always see riders getting on the freeway, and just get into the far left lane in one sweep. Then up ahead you see them weaving in and out of traffic going about 80 or 90.

That's me in early morning commuter traffic on I-295. The majority move at 70-75, I move 10-15 mph faster. I get in the left lane as quickly as possible after entrance so I don't get blocked into the slower lanes. After that I try to maintain my 85mph pace. If there's a car in the left lane significantly slower, I will pass him on the right. After all, if there's room for me to do that, then he wasn't passing anyone, so why the heck was he in the left lane in the first place? I do keep pretty long following distances when going that fast. I do a full head check, mirror check, and signal every lane change. And yes, sometimes I do get passed by even faster vehicles - two- AND four-wheeled.

in michigan its illegal to DRIVE in the left lane (cops rarely pull people over for it though). Course we ride and it doesnt say you cant ride in the left lane The left lane is reserved for passing only. I am talking about like I-69 and US-131 highways/freeways not places like cities.
