stuck between 2 bikes
stuck between 2 bikes
Hi, i am stuck between the choice of 2 bikes. I am looking at a Ducati Superbike 999, and a Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa. I will be buying one of them brand new in the spring, and am wondering if anyone can help me decide which one to get.
I have heard a couple bad things about the Ducatis', but have heard nothing bad about Suzukis'. I have heard that Ducatis' are more maintanance and break down more than Suzukis' and i know that parts for a Ducati are much more expensive.
If anyone has either owned a Ducati, or a Suzuki bike, please tell me how your experience with is was, and which you would recommend. My email is pvtsmurf@yahoo.com if anyone would like to email info to me.
Thanks

Your posting in the New Bikers Forum. If you are truly a new biker, then you are about to recieve alot of feedback as to why those bikes are likely going to kill you. If you have lots of experience, I suggest you clear that up quick, trust me.
To put it simply, learning on those bikes CAN be very dangerous and alot more trouble than they are worth. If you learn to ride on a Hayabusa, I hope your addicted to danger.

New to street bikes. Ive been racing motocross since i was six and have been racing a lot of other off road vehicles for a good time now. And i have ridden a good bit of my friends bikes, this is just going to be my first that i own.
And yes, i know how easy it will be to kill myself. I truly am a speed demon and i am willing to risk it.
Id also like to add, I know its a stupid idea, and id appreciate if people held their criticism to themselves. Im here for advice on a bike, not people telling me im an idiot.

Just as a disclaimer, I'm a new rider and ride a cruiser but... I have a huge fascination with the Ducati Monster. I know it's way, way too much for me at the moment, but still enjoy doing the research on it. I've not read anything to convince me that it's a maintenance problem, but the routine maintenance will cost a bit more.
I spent quite a bit of time of dirt bikes (but a long time ago). What a blast! I know you were only looking for bike info, but think about taking the MSF course. It will help on the insurance, most dealers will rebate at least part of your money and I really did learn quite a bit about how to handle the bikes at slower speeds (and pavement).
Good luck!

There you have it. Sometimes people just end up in the wrong place, and they even know it.murpheus wrote: And yes, i know how easy it will be to kill myself. I truly am a speed demon and i am willing to risk it.
