1997 Rebel

#1 Unread post by stryped »

Is a 1997 Rebel an ok bike for 20 mile each way commutes highway? For a 6 foot rider? I found one for 1300. It is nearby too.

The only thing I hate is they have a small gs tank and I woudl probably have to put gas in it every day.

If you are comfortable on that bike, then yes, you could commute with it.

Probably only have to fuel every 2 days.

We have a member here who did a whole road trip on his Rebel. I will see if I can find the thread.

My Rebel got 70-80 mpg; an older one might get a little less, but you'd still only be gassing up every couple of days (I'd fill up at 120 miles, without yet having hit reserve.)

At 6 feet tall, as long as your inseam is under 34", you should fit on it, and can tilt the bars a bit to gain a little more knee clearance if it's an issue. My 6'2" son was able to ride mine; he looked funny, but he could ride it with no problems.

I'd jump on it, if it was in good condition. I'm really regretting having sold mine now.
