Hi from DC

Hello everyone,

I've been reading the forums quite a bit since I started riding 3 months ago, and just figured I should join and say hello. I live in the DC Metro Area (in woodbridge/dale city for the locals) and ride a Kawasaki Versys. I mainly use it for commuting (again, the locals will know why) but also on the weekends for some joyriding. I've always wanted to ride, but I've been out of the country for the past two years and decided that when I got back, I'd take a course and go for it. I'm glad I did; I really enjoy riding and now actually look forward to the commute.

The part that I really enjoy about riding is the community. These forums are a great resource to ask all the questions you're too embarrassed to ask or admit that you've made a stupid mistake while riding. (which I've done plenty of) I look forward to chattin' it up with everybody here.

That said, anyone commuting on I-95N (HOV-3, of course) in the mornings?

Welcome! I'm up in Falls church and I can tell you with 100% certainty that even the Versys should get a suspension upgrade for this area. It's a bit undersprung unless you're a 150lbs or less person.

Great roads around Woodbridge but west and south. Takes me a bit longer to get to them myself.

The Falls Church area is where I work, so I know what you're saying about the suspension. I'm about 175 lbs, so it's not too bad, but I've learned to stay out of the right lane of 495 unless I have to be in it. I'll take a look into upgrading the suspension though. The roads here are in terrible condition, but you should see the roads in New Orleans where I'm from....pot holes big enough to park a car in.
You're right about the roads in Woodbridge though.... I live right off of 234, and what's great is that a lot of the roads around the subdivisions are 4-laned, but don't have a lot of traffic....so it was great when I was just starting out.

Anyways, thanks again for the advice about the suspension! That's exactly what I'm talking about that these forums are a great resource.

I have a good idea about that with family in Jackson Ms. Take a look at progressive springs for your bike. Takes about an hour to install, not hard and I can give you a hand if needed.... then go find the roads around clifton and just south of Quanitico.
