nutty tachometer
My tach sometimes, usually at low speeds, works fine. But at higher speeds it just bounces allover the place. I've removed the cable, cleaned, and greased it, but that has not solved the problem. Is there a sensor I can replace? Or does this mean there could be problems with the transmission? The transmission is noisy at idle, you can tell the difference with the clutch engaged as opposed to disengaged. Downshifting can be sketchy if you don't do it at the right speeds. For example if I wait to go from 6th to 1st until I'm completely stopped it won't work. But if i shift down as I'm slowing down it works fine.

Anyway, back to the subject.... some gauges it is possible to get them apart, drill, fill and seal the damping mechanizm with a light oil or a silicon fluid. It is not an 'offical' repair, more like what we call a jury-rig. Guerilla-style bike repair, for sure. If yours is one of the ones that this can be too or not, I don't know. I found a page on the web about how to do it to my old FJ.... google is your friend. So is wading through heaps of garbage to find a bit of useful info.
