Little by little, you go out for rides. Before you know it your rides are lasting longer and you're covering more ground than before.

Great news your BF passed his MSF as well - you guys will enjoy getting out. O totaly agree - he needs to get his own bike!
psst-the margaritas, dear-we had this talk :roll2:

He got his permit-he did not take the MSF course.

But he does now seem to understand that my bike is my territory and he needs to back away-I was checking the air pressure tonight and he kind of slid in behind me. I growled, he left. That's how it's supposed to work (where the bike is concerned).

You're absolutely right about having a buddy. I went out on my own tonight (and managed to get caught in a surprise downpour - my gear is SOAKED! ) and it was still a bit more nerve-racking than having someone else following. I went farther than I had ever gone before on my own-but not as far as I did last night with company.

At least now I've had the tropical rainfall riding experience.

I've been riding for 2 1/2 - 3 weeks now. Doing a bunch of riding around town on local roads and one lightly traveled two lane highway getting a feel for the bike. Being in traffic hasn't been uncomfortable for me, though I am checking my mirrors when stopping. Also have the wife on the back so I'm getting used to the passenger too.
I hadn't had it on the 'real' highway until this past weekend when we went up to my sister in laws. It's about a 15 mile highway ride each way. I have to admit the speed and wind buffeting takes a bit of getting used to. I'm not even going at real high speeds, 65 or so, but it feels quick to me. Then again the first time I had it at 45 - 50 it felt fast too, now it's not bad. I've been taking it slow though, I would rather build up to it then find myself in over my head.

Good luck to you and safe riding
