I'll tell you what I am going to do for you......I am going to go to that corner and photograph all 4 corners so you can see what it looks like.

When were you last here?
2004 - and I haven't been back since. :( I'm going to fix that sometime in the next few years though - hopefully on a bike!

Hi

the local on the mobility scooter reminds me of Porthcawl. The town where I live has a mobility scooter dealer, the locals use them around the town - not all for being disabled - and you can even rent them. the average age for the town is about 65.(God I feel young - I feel like an 18 yr old - where can I get an 18 yr old- Sorry mr. Glitter.)

Love your post.

ps. the photos of Mousehole and Kennack Sands are in Cornwall
If you can see the tops of the mountain's it's going to rain.
If you can't - it's raining.

Tuesday August 26

I went riding yesterday with a woman I recently met. She has been riding for a year. She is married to a man who is always suspicious...even though there is no reason to be suspicious.....so, she decided to ride with women instead of men to keep the peace. Sigh......whatever happended to trust?

Anyway......we decided to ride to Chilliwack Airport for thier famous pie. Chilliwack is over 90 km away.....
We avoided the freeway for most of the day; managed to to take a few wrong turns that ended up getting us where we needed to be anyway...

We have heard so much about the pie....We fly for pie....according to what the pilots say.....
Well...after so much buildup I was finally going to get to have some famous pie.......
It was highly over rated and very underwhelming...I honestly don't know what the big deal is unless those pilots just never get any pie anywhere else.

Here is the pie

(Oh yeah...I ordered mine with ice cream)

I got my riding companion to snap a pic so we could show her hubby that she really was out with another woman and not a fellow riding companion...
Helmet hair, squinting into the sun....va va voom....

We left the airport and got onto the freeway as far as Abbotsford. We took the exit for Hwy 11 to Mission, but we turned off just before Mission and went through Matsqui. We rode via Harris Road and onto 56th Ave. It's somewhat of a popular riding road. After a few more detours because of some road closures, we finally made it back into Surrey.
Mentally I was still very alert, but physically I was tiring. I could tell by the way I was stopping in the bumper to bumper traffic. I mentioned it to her and she asked me if I would like to stop somewhere for a bit to eat and have a rest.....
I smiled at her and said, "Apparently someone doesn't want to go home yet."
She smiled even bigger......so I agreed to stop. We stopped in at a pub/restaurant that was about 5 minutes from her place and only about 20 minutes from home for me.....I could have easily gone home, but I think she really wanted the company for a bit longer.
She phoned home to let her family know we were back, and asked her hubby if he wanted to join us.....
She asked me if I felt ok about riding home in the dark.....I guess she realized that we would be there for a while....
I was surprised when he showed up......At least he knows now she was telling him the truth. He also brought her son, son's girlfriend and a nephew.....suddenly we were a group of 6....It was fun.
Anyway, after dinner, we went our separate ways. The ride along #10 Hwy is so nice now. There was a time (after I earned the hard way, that # 10 was not a good road to be riding in the dark), but that has changed. It is newly widened and paved.
I had another motorcyclist riding staggered behind me for quite some time, but when we got to the north end of the Queensborough Bridge we went separate ways.

Although I was tired from the day, I felt good about it. It was the longest ride yet since I got back on my bike.

It has rained since then. If it's dry tomorrow I'll ride over to Doc's and check on his premises to make sure all is ok.....and pick whatever is edible from his garden.....
I have also started my graduated return to work today......I felt wrecked after the day....
I also had a big talk with the physio guy which left me feeling very drained....

Keeping my fingers crossed for a dry weekend......I'd like to take a ride.....

Glad to hear you're getting around again! Is the other bike a Vstar also? It looks a little smaller, but maybe it's the angle.
I also had a big talk with the physio guy which left me feeling very drained
Even talking with them is a workout, it seems. :frusty:

I'm guessing that the pilots are like motorcyclists--they may pretend its the pie, but it's really about the trip.

The other bike is a Honda Shadow Spirit 750. It is actually a bit smaller in stature than mine.

Hey...you could be right about the pie....it's not really about the pie.....well...I can think of better places to go than the Chilliwack Airport for the next ride.

As for the physio guy.....oh yes....yesterday I actually got to tell him that the reason I sent him the email was because it was so difficult to talk to him because he kept talking over me......I also told him that when he suggested I was faking it, I was so offended I could not even face him...hence the email.....he didn't apologize, but he did acknowledge that what he said to me was an a$$hole thing to say. (his words)
I told him he's smart but he has tunnel vision.....he may be smart but he so dense......he thinks tunnel vision is a good thing....
When I left I told him it would help a lot if he could speak more kindly..He said he would try.

I only need to go there 2 times a week now......yay! I'm on a graduated return to work the other 3 days.

Blues - that's a Honda Pacific Coast - PC800. A bike people either loved or hated, but becoming a bit of a collector's item now.

I can understand the confusion, it's got the same kind of mirror/turn signal assemblies integrated into the fairing.

OK all you phucktards who don't know what one vehicle per lane means......I will explain it to you.....
Just because a motorcycle and its rider don't take up a lot of space, does not mean you get to share my lane...especially big pick up trucks.....

I was travelling south on 12th Street. A very large pick up truck was behind me. I was keeping a watch on him in my mirror......
I passed 10th Avenue, planning to turn left at 8th.....as soon as I passed 9th, I put my left blinker on......suddenly the pick up truck tried to pass me on my right....between me in my lane and the parked cars. I shoulder checked him and then just shook my head. He stopped where he was.
Then.....he moved forward to right beside me.....if I had taken my hand off the throttle I could have reached over and touched his truck.

He put his head out the window and said something to me......so....I opened my visor to ask him what he was saying.
He told me, "You should have put your signals on a block back."
Me" quoting what he said" He said yes.....
I asked why.....(keep in mind that my signals got put on at 9th and I was waiting my turn to turn left at 8th.....the light was red....there were 2 cars in front of me....and cars parked on the street to my right.....)

His words.....if you had put your signals on sooner I could have gone around you...... sigh.....Do I have to educate the whole world? There is only one lane you dumba$$......there was no place to go around me......and....then he says he saw me shaking my head and decided he needed to tell me he's a good driver. :frusty: I let him know that when somebody drives as close as he did it's scary.
Anyway...he then very carefully squeezed by me so that he could make a right hand turn. As soon as I was turned I then realized I should have told him that he shouldn't be trying to share my lane.....

I also wonder if I had been wearing black leather and had on a black helmet instead of my girlie helmet if he would have dared try what he did.

He's lucky all he got was a headshake.....

So...I rode over to Doc's.....I found 3 ripe strawberries and oh boy they were so good. I picked a few tomatoes and a radishes and a whole lot of green beans......a few people in my complex are enjoying the produce tonight.....
I also have it on the best authority....me.... that synthetic 2 stroke motor oil will loosen up a rusty lock. I managed to get get the lock open after some trying, but then could not get the lock closed again. There was too much rust or corrosion...soooooo....I took a look in the garage thingy and saw a little bottle of 2 stroke motor oil....I gather it's for a lawnmower....I opened the seal and put a few drops into the lock holes and let it seep in for a moment. After a few tries it clicked shut. I then worked it in a bit more and now it's smooth as glass....

I must tell Doc about this wonderful invention I have heard about. It's called garden stakes. They would be such a useful thing for growing beans. :P

The ride home included a stop at the market.....it's remarkable the thing you can bring home by bike......I brought fresh flowers home inside the tail bag.....worked like a charm.

Now, it's time for supper and yes, it includes fresh green beans and sliced fresh tomatoes.
