Is 87 octane good enough?

Out here on the east coast, I haven't seen any states in the new england/mid-atlantic region that carried less than 87.

Putting higher octane fuel than recommended in your vehicle can make it less efficient, more often than not. As skier said - higher octanes are harder to burn.
