Y'all have fun!

I just finished up my RiderCoach Prep class on Wednesday so now I get to teach MSF classes. Having watched a lot of BRCs, I have to say that there is nothing more satisfying than watching the transformation new riders go through on the first day on the range. It's so cool!

ME TOO!! Same days, same times! What location? We were supposed to have three people including me in my class, but one person did not show.

Well the second day is done. The first day was classroom with short films and discussion. Today was the range with the last 2 hours in the classroom. My class has 11 people. About 4 people had never been on bikes before. It has been about 20 years since I've been on a motorcycle, but it came back quickly. I was assigned a Kawasaki 250 cruiser, (not sure what model).

Nobody spilled a bike today, but 2 people had problems with crappy ones. My only frustration is nothing new that hasn't been posted in other discussions. I kept getting behind people going too slow. One drill called for us to switch from 2nd to 3rd gear. The girl in front of me was going 7mph. It was kind of hard to match engine speed to road speed (3rd gear requirements) going 7mph.
The only thing I got hit on today was a rear wheel lock up on a panic stop. I applied both brakes, but the rear locked up. And of course I did the wrong thing. I took my foot off the break. Thank god I was going straight and under 20mph. Nothing really happened except a polite scolding from the instructor.

I hope everyone's weekend is also going well. I will post tomorrow the results.

Good luck.

Yeah, well I have 0 experience so this was all pretty new to me. My experience today was great except for one of the first exercises when we had to use the "friction zone" to move the bike while walking with it. When we turned around and got back to staging lane, I accidently let go of the clutch not realizing it was still in first. It took off and almost shot out from under me! I managed to grab the clutch and get it stopped, but I thought I was going to wreck for sure. I was a little shooken up for awhile, but after a while I was riding pretty decently.

 Ok, I'm not laughing at you, just the image of a person doing what you did ;)

gearhead - glad you got it under control. Though a little shooken up, I bet you're a bit more careful about what gear you're in.

Anyhow, good luck to you both on the rest of the class. Relax, do the drills and keep talking yourself through - yall will be alright.
:D

Talus, your day describes mine perfectly. Except for the wheel lock up. You aren't in Concord NC are you? LOL! I would have thought you where in my class!! I was very frustrated with some of it, pretty much the same things. Even the 2nd-3rd with the slower rider, there is one guy that somehow I wind up behind, I was behind him in the 2nd-3rd, and some of the cone weaves, at one point I almost passed him out of shear frustration, but didn't.

I was completely exhausted when I got home yesterday. It was so hot, and in all the gear and not moving. It was very demanding, but that is all good.

I am not completely confident in passing the skills test today. I didn't sleep hardly at all last night.

You should have finished by now. Did you pass? I did! :multistars: I only got 4 points added in the skills test (for those that don't know, 0 is perfect, 21 is failing). 100% in the written test.
