Can I ride sport motorcycle with me height?

#1 Unread post by domanhtien2006 »

Hello everybody!! :)

My name is Tien.I'm from Vietnam. Now I'm studying in Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. My hooby is riding sport motorcycle. I like it very much.

I intend to buy a Ninja-250R 2008 motorcycle. but I don't know can I ride it with my height?. I'm tall 160 cm. :D

Could you answer me this question? And if possible, you can tell me the height at least to ride sport motorcycle. :)

I'm looking forward to receive respond from you.

The only way to know is to sit on the different bikes. Sport bikes are not of a standard seat height, so some bikes you may be able to sit on and others you may not.

My wife is 5'4" - 2 inches taller than you - and she has difficulty on my 2007 Ninja 250. We both basically have the same inseam of 30".

I've been studying the different bikes out there lately - and you might have a better time finding Cruisers with an appropriate seat height for you.

Also, note that many bikes can be lowered - some by the dealer and some through aftermarket. However, changes to the ride height can affect ride quality.

Good Luck.

domanhtien2006, I'm from Corpus as well. I suggest that you go down to The Cycle Plaza (Kawasaki) and Irv Thomas (Honda/Suzuki), both are there in SPID. They both have a good selection of bikes that you'll be able to sit on and try out.

Cycle Plaza will be on the left hand side (right around the Trade Center) and Irv Thomas is out past the SPID/Crosstown interchange on the right side. IIRC it is before Bear Ln.

Anyway, stop by, the folks at each place have been friendly and you can 'try on' bikes :)

Xin chào

160cm is like 5'3" or so...with the 250R, IF you can learn to handle the bike without both feet, you will be good. Sportbikes in general have ergonomics that favor shorter people.
