Happy Bike Day!

#1 Unread post by WVUChrome »

Pulled the trigger on a 1999 SV650 with 15K on the clock this morning. $2200 + tax, tags, and title. Owner threw in a Clymer's manual and a new chain. Haven't got the bike yet, waiting for the bank to catch up with paperwork.

In addition to the bike, I bought a Joe Rocket helmet, Leather Jacket, Nylon Pants, and Kevlar/Leather gloves from an unknown brand. Didn't mean to pick out JR stuff, its just what happened to fit/be in stock/ look good. Gear was $755 otd.

Got my permit this morning, I've been having issues getting into an MSF class though. Availability is VERY limited. I've started looking for an instructor who does private instruction as well.

I come from a background riding a 250 Honda enduro for the last 4 years or so. I feel the 650 is at the upper limit of what is comfortable for me. Hopefully it will grow with me better than a 250 would have. Plus, this is the bike I really wanted, so no compromise, not even in color!

Well, that's enough about my new bike. Anxiously waiting for the bank to call back so I can pick up the check and the bike. Hopefully they call today, if not, tomorrow morning I'll have it.

Later,

Awesome! I went from a 250 to an SV650, no problems. It took a little bit of time to get use to the more sensitive throttle, but after that...oh man I loved that bike.

CONGRATS! You're gonna LOVE it!

Congrats! That's an awesome bike and it looks amazing! Definitely perfect for everyday riding but plenty of power to have fun, will look good for a long time to come and it seems like you got a good deal too! Very well played, sir.

Congratulations, that's one fantastic looking bike, one of my favorite middleweight standards. And IMHO better looking than the current SV650. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it.
