I wont buy another 1000 because I dont like any of the new models.

First of all.....r1 freak wrote:Hi this is my first tread, just have on question; i've always rode 600cc sportbikes and last year I went to a yamaha r1 (1000) well I dont really like it so I want to go back to a yamaha r6 (600).Will I regret goin back down on displacement? You will probably love going back to a 600.
Heh; I've been riding 600s for 12 years and can't wait to get my hands on a Ninja 250... or even a Kawi Eliminator 125... to thrash.
Displacement and ponypower isn't everything... unless you're addicted to going 186mph, you'll probably love having a 600 again.

Nope, you're thinking the 08 CBR1000RR. Claimed dry weight of 1 lb less than the 08 GSXR600...ChemicalTaste wrote:I know the new R1 weighs considerably less than the new GSXR600.
The big difference in the 09 R1 is the crankshaft... 90 degree offset for every piston...
As far as the 1000s this year, the only one I like is the GSXR1000. The R1 looks too fluid for me, the Kawi looks like a bug, and the CBR I just can't get over the front end and the pipe...
As far as OP is concerned, what 600 do you like? And if you want I'm sure there will be body kits for all of them...

From 1000's back to 600's !
well as of this morning I'm the proud owner of a 09 yamaha r6 (r). I had an 07 r1, weight was not the problem, power was great, I just did not like the way it handle, I guess I'm just used to 600's . I do about 15 trackdays a year and the O6 r6 was the perfect bike for it. As for the r1 I guess you have to ride one to feel the difference between the rest of the litre bikes, I didn't go for another 1000 because I dont like the way they look and besides, I saved about two grand today by buyin the r6.
An R6?
I've had many bikes (mostly custom chops) and sold them all but still have my tried and true R6...too much fun, especially if you like to ride the curves!
Most of us "normal" human beings (Rossi excluded) can't take advantage of the full power of the current crop of 1000's or even the 600's so don't feel like you're settling.

Also...staying alive..
Take care
