Just bought a Majesty

#1 Unread post by Snoopy »

Hi All

I bought a Yamaha Majesty in the beginning of August. Brand new 2005, it was old stock so I got a really good deal on it $5200 Cdn. So far I have about 2000 km on it and I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. Of course I figured I would like to ride a scooter, but I had no idea I would like it this much. It feels like a regular motorcycle except you don't have to clutch and change gears all the time. I find that it's great for commuting in the type of traffic I commute in which consists of stop and go line ups for about half an hour, and about half an hour of freeway at 120 km/h. The stop and go part would be quite a bit worse if I had to clutch and shift all the time. It's been about 30 years since I owned a motorcycle. Now, enjoying the Majesty as much as I do, I'm wondering what it would feel like to ride a regular motorcycle again. Maybe I would like to do long distance touring. 8) Am I loosing my mind? I would like to hear from others that have direct experience with different motorcycles or maxi scooters. Should I be looking around? What else would really be worth trying or did I get lucky and end up with the best thing first time around?

OK Here are some images. Hope this works. These were taken when we went for a ride up Cyprus mountain. There's two because my Ex bought one too. It was just too good of a deal for her to resist.

Enjoy the Majesty's and ride, ride, ride!!! Have fun, that's what it's all about.

the only thing I would change to would be the Honda DN-01 ($15,000) ouch! or the Suzuki Burgman 650. ($9,000) ouch again, great ride and fast and bigger then my Majesty and it fit's me better. (long legs)

I'm lovin my Majesty though. Don't want to go back to clutching and shifting

I have a question. When one is riding a "Majesty" and you pass another bike, do you use that little hand-upright-and-swiveling Queen Mother wave instead of the normal one?

I think the Majesty's and Burgman 400's are a nice size. The Burgman 650's and Honda Silverwing are too big to be scooters, just IMO. 250 cc bikes like the Honda Reflex are a little small for me. 400cc is a good size for a maxi-scooter.

I thought I knew my motorcycles pretty well, but had never heard of a "Majesty." A picture's worth a thousand words... :-)
