Well tonight Dad came home and said go look at what I just bought...... :?

So I trip out to the garage and see his Vette there.... but it ain't the same Vette it was this morning.

This one is candy red and a convertable. And an auto..... I haven't driven it yet, but Pappy says he likes the paddle shifters better than the manual, and this one has suspension settings for cruising or sport, so it rides better when just driving it normally.

Luckily for him, another guy was looking at his first car at the same time as Dad was, but dicked around too long and had the car scooped out from under him. He still wanted that car though so the dealership took Dad's blue one back to sell to the second guy and swapped Dad for this new red one. Dad loves to haggle and deal, so this was right up his alley. Most other people I know would have been shafted in the deal, but Dad makes car salesmen cringe when he walks in..... and loves doing it, lol.

The convertible/auto options add 15 grand to the (sticker) price of the car and the dealer ate that so Dad made out pretty good. Specially considering he put 4500 klicks on the first car before the trade..... I wish I inherited his bartering genes.....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Ah yes, but that truck is a Ford Ranger, built Ford Tough and guaranteed to get you home......unlike GM's.

Back when I was young and foolish, I was in the Canadian Army, at the time my MP unit used what we called the 74 patten Jeep, built by Ford

(this photo was taken at CFB Gagetown in '81, could well of been the one I was using as I was during exercise RV81, except this one is missing its little rotating red light)

and GM 5/4 Ton (1 and quarter ton) pick up trucks.

Even in the dead of an Albertan winter, I'd opt for the old jeep over the GM, coz I it would get me back from CFB Wainwright to CFB Calgary, unlike the GM.
Always ask why.

Do you think that has more to do with the salt on the roads during winter?
Of course here on the west coast we have no need for salt....... :P

Actually that was from one of the old Ford commercials. Wasn't long after that GM started using better rust-proofing during production, and the start of Ziebart.

I grew up in Louisville and never saw a Chevy roll out of the two Ford plants. Lincoln, Mercury, or Mazda maybe, but not Chevy.

They rolled them out the back door......in the dead of night..........when the moonlight was missing..........somethings are just too shameful to do in the light of day.......and making GM/Chevy trucks is high up on that list....

My brother just retired from Ford, and I have two nephews that work there still, so if they were to roll off a POS GM or Dodge vehicle I would have heard about it. Also if they produced the other brands I would have A plan discounts on them also, not that I would want one.
