As I upgraded from a 250 to a 750 I dunno if I could tell you how it would feel compared to your 1k. I have never said to myself personally though "I wish I had more power"
I do love the bike. However despite this I would recommend against buying this years bike and wait until next years model comes out.
My bike and a lot of other Shiver owners have had problems sidelining them for a considerable period of time. I went 2 months total over the summer without my bike due to these issues. It's really a crap shoot if you get a good bike or a broken one. I am now having new issues with my reservoirs weeping.
Some people have even complained about problems of their bikes just randomly shutting down while they are riding, getting the problem "fixed" then having it happen to them again.
Most of this stuff I could forgive but Aprilia does NOTHING for you, no free jacket or some kind of apology or anything.

Good luck with your choice, whatever you decide.
That's a shame! They're cool looking bikes and I hear they handle great! Thanks for the honesty!
