Not trying to steal this thread but I’m new to this whole motorcycle thing guys so please bear with my novice questions. I would like to go the chap’s route so I am looking for suggestions on a good brand, not too expensive say around $100. Can anyone suggest to me what is a good brand or outlet to buy from? What should I be looking for in size and fit?

I'm wearing these now: http://www.leatherup.com/p/Leather-Chap ... 47595.html but, to be honest, I'm not completely happy with them and am going to replace them with these: http://www.foxcreekleather.com/111.htmlhavegunjoe wrote:Not trying to steal this thread but I’m new to this whole motorcycle thing guys so please bear with my novice questions. Most motorcycle accidents occur below 30 MPH (Or was it 35?) where the abrasion characteristics of Nylon are plenty of protection.AlphaZed wrote:I wear leather only! Nylon and other materials melt and self-destruct if you ever go for a high speed slide. It's not pretty!
And if you have any plans of doing track days, many require leather...
Track days where speeds are much higher do benefit from the slightly better protection of leather, but for the street wearing leather is pretty silly.

I've had textile pants and even after sliding on the ground at 40MPH they've held up really well to the point of me being able to use them again and well suffer another sliding accident. Leather is good as well and offers more abrasion protection but are more expensive and can be tight fitting. One thing I've started doing is wearing police grade cargo pants on top of the riding pants since those are cheaper to replace ($40 per pant or more) and the ripstop fabric also holds up well to the point that it takes a lot of damage to rip a hole in them.Skier wrote:Most motorcycle accidents occur below 30 MPH (Or was it 35?) where the abrasion characteristics of Nylon are plenty of protection.AlphaZed wrote:I wear leather only! So far the Joe Rocket pants are the best brand I've bought so far. AGV, Alpine Stars, and MotoGP are good but I've had zipper problems with them in the past. One thing to note is that when walking the knee pads will be resting close to the shins but when you're in riding position they'll sit on your knee.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

I wear boxers, then a pair of 3 quarter shorts, then my draggin jeans and if its raining, i wear a pair of thunder plastic pants over those.....and.....
my meat and 2 veg still get that cold me nutz usually hangout somewhere near nipple level.
one of these days im gunna buy a decent pair of riding pants especially for winter where it gets as low as 65-70 degrees here.
Oh and never fookin ride with out some form of riding pants on, unless ya dont value ya legs, there are plenty of options these days that you can buy and wear and still look super kool to the babes on the street without compromising ya skin....so there is no excuse.
9.7 out of 10 lezbians agree that I taste better when rolled in chocolate and honey first.
