I think those are the biggest reasons these stunts get to me, especially the image they present. Most of my family is cool with me having a bike, some more than others, but I've still gotten my share of criticism because of the stunts of other people.Besides which, anytime someone crashes while hot rodding, especially at my age. My insurance rates go up, and the police look for me that much more. Besdies which it gives bikers everywhere a bad name. Because the average joe isn't smart enough to tell the difference between a harley and a honda.
this doesnt make sense to me, people race cars and do some very stupid stuff in a car but noone relates you to those people just because you drive a care do they? people use spray paint to get high but just buying spray paint should relate you to those people either?TheReaper wrote:I think those are the biggest reasons these stunts get to me, especially the image they present. this just shows how small minded some people are they can judge a whole group of people on the actions of a select few.
next time someone relates your riding a bike to those kids doing stunts, turn it around on them and bring up people doing donuts in intersections or drag racing in hondas etc.

I don't get all that worked up. I've seen a dozen people do tricks either near me or for me because I'm on a bike and so are they. Once approaching a light and a bike coming from the other way and we are stoped at a red light. He knodded and I knodded back. The light turned green, and up went his wheel. No gear. I wear full gear. I did not do a wheelie or race off at top speed. I have no feeling about that story - it doesn't make me happy, sad, angry. I wish I could stop people from making us look bad, but I can't, so I try to be that much better. If anyone asks, I tell them what I think are the best practices on a bike and recomend the MSF.
Maybe one day we will out number the fools. Then we just have to worry about he cages.

the squids kind of make me feel better, knowing their out there makes all the biker statistics not sound so bad.

A friend of mine is a life guard out here in Souther California. Him and his partner are out cruising in the lifegaurd truck and this gixer come rolling up on the left side reving the motor. He busts a wheelie, but he gives it too much and totally flips the bike
so my buddy stops (because he is a life gaurd and has EMT training). turns out the guy is alright (besides the fact that he is obviously mentally challenged) I always laugh at that. Don't let these fools get on your nerves. Really. Oh BTW what the hell does squid mean?
