Fuel pump question

I've never ridden my bike to where it completely runs out of fuel but I'm thinking about doing it so I can see how far I can really go on a full tank. A friend suggested this was not good because running it dry can damage the fuel pump. Is this something I should avoid? My bike is carburated if that makes a difference.

yes knowing it carburated does make a differance because your fuel pump is called gravity believe me when i say you will not damage it. if you do run your bike out of gas remeber to once you put gas back in it it will not start on the first try. try to start it for about 15 to 20 seconds and then let it rest for about a smoke (3-4 minutes) then try again. do not rush this give it some time and it will start. if you do not give it time batt will go dead and you may be looking for a new starter

counting the number of times i ran the vulcan out of gas hmmm 1,2,3,no 1,2,3,4,4,4 man i dont remeber

Not necessarily Tennif Shoe...
Some carbed bikes do have fuel pumps, and yes, running it out of gas can hurt it, but honestly only if you kept the pump running for a long time after running out of gas.

Mainly depends on what your bike is as to whether or not it has a fuel pump anyway. I went and checked and I can't seem to find what kind of bike you ride!

So if you tell me what kind of bike you ride I can tell you whether or not it has a fuel pump!

My apologies good sir!

BTW your EN500 doesn't have a fuel pump. Shouldn't have a problem running it out of gas.
