Do gear companies show up at these too?

I've been going to these shows for 3 years and most of the bikes there are meant for people to sit on. Bikes that are not to be touched have a sign posted on it or are behind roped barriers. If you're not sure just asked the guys with the ID badge around their necks in that section.

Many of the gear companies do show up and there are booths where you can buy gear and accessories as well. The biggest sellers are helmets and jackets. Maybe I'll see you there.

Yup. There are booths for just about everything motorcycle at the show: Gear, moto-vacations, moto events, trailers, audio systems, garage stuff, insurance, track-day companies, rider-leathers (and "poser" leathers), usually a couple booths doing molded earplugs, sunglasses, plus booths for every kind of moto-farkle you can imagine (and a few you never thought about).

Hubby and I will be a Javitts Center on Saturday!! - guess I should wear a nametag, huh? I've got an orange bandanna that I usually bring out cause it makes me easy to pick out in a crowd.

If the roads are clear and temps are above freezing then I'm riding over there in my usual leather jacket and black cargoes or blue jeans (on top of proper riding pants of course). If the weather or roads isn't too great then I'll be the guy in mostly black clothing with a bomber jacket on and black combat boots.

This year I'm going to get that loud train horn that I passed up last time I was there. I'm also going to pick up some more flexible LED strips... maybe a new set of saddle bags if I talk the guys down in price. Plus my favorite bike shop will be there. As a Progressive customer I get $3 off which can probably by me an overpriced soda.

Lionlady, you're coming up from MD to NY? Kinda long distance for a two day bike show don't ya think?

How much time do you think I would need if I just want to check out the bikes? I was planning on going Friday night and then going away for the rest of the weekend. It's starting to sound like I may need to push back a day so I can go on Saturday too.

I haven't been to the bike show yet - but I've gone to the Auto Show off and on over the years.

Usually there are too many people, too much to see that you do what you can in whatever time you can.

But I suspect it will be different at the bike show.

The bike show is only a weekend long and I usually go in the evening where there's less people. It took me about 2 hours or so to just go and look at the bikes, maybe 3 if I get more into the show but it's not too big compared to the import car shows. Maybe it's much more entertaining in the day time, I'll find out this year.

This bike show is nothing compared to the one in the UK or wherever they hold it in Europe.

Kinda far, but we're not driving, someone else is...

We've got fellow biker friends who hold a little "shindig" during show weekend. Get to catch up with folks. And, we're staying overnight, Saturday...

Anybody got suggestions for a late lunch/dinnner place near Javitts?

I don't know the area for food in the Javitz area, but I would recommend a strong stomach for the prices of the food in NYC.

I had a client in the south and ended up listening to the radio down there as a DJ complained about the food prices at a baseball game (in NYC). After the recent price and gas problems..... It is a little expensive now.

Really good Thai place on 48th, between broadway and 8th called Pongsri. It's the only place I know in the city, so it's usually where I end up. Prices are good and the food is good.
