New Biker wanting Custom Build.

#1 Unread post by discospaceman »

Recently I have wanted to start riding. I want a fast, futuristic bike, but I can't find many on the market. I'm a 23 year-old designer a few years out of college, and finances aren't an issue. I have found interest in Enzyme Design's Icare and a Sony game called XG3 through the Internet, and I need help finding a builder in the US that is both capable and willing to take on such a project.

Baby steps... man.

I've seen some really cool bikes from Final Fantasy at Kinokunia... But in reality a lot of this bikes are wide, low and most likely not rideable.

Do you have any pics of what you would be interested in building? I'm of no help, but I like fantasizing about dream bikes, too!

If you haven't yet learned to ride, then you'd better learn how before you build a fast futuristic bike with which you potentially could kill yourself.

Sounds like another organ donor awaiting to happen......I call dibs on his liver.......

All joking aside, learn some road craft and get two or three seasons of real world riding in first....then decide exactly what type and how powerful of a bike you really want or need.

Oh one more thing.....video game bikes have about as much basis in reality as hentai anime does for nookie
Always ask why.

A few problems with your 'concept':

1) "new riders" and "fast bikes" don't mix.

2) Custom bikes are frequently $30,000+. While cost may not matter, novice riders are FAR more prone to dropping, wrecking or otherwise messing up a bike. Do you really want to mess up your 'dream bike'?

3) Many customs handle like a sinking ore barge. They are designed for looks, not handling. Crappy handling + novie lack of skills+ desire for speed = wrecked bike + busted face.

Learn to ride. Get 15,000-20,000 miles in. Ride different bikes. Find out what you really want, not just what looks cool on paper. THEN build your bike.

One post and this new visitor is called a troll. Can we please, at least give people a chance to respond to a few enquiries before we start with the abuse?

discospaceman doesn't yet know how much he dosen't know. . . we can be encouraging, welcoming, and educate, or we can chase him off.

How were you all welcomed, here?

It is possible that discospaceman posted the same inquiry on a dozen forums, has already forgotten which ones, and will never be back here to see the responses. But our responses remain for any lurker to see...

Um Miss Lion Lady, oh miss, uh me miss, I have a question

why did you delete my well constructed and straight to the point reply to this topic ????

I thought I assessed and critiqued this situation well.
