So, I totaled another car last night...
So last night I'm traveling northbound on one of those awesome hill town roads, called rt 142. I see a car off the road in a ditch on the southbound side, so I start to slow down to turn around and check it out to make sure no one is in it and hurt. So I decide to turn around in someones driveway, but skid a foot further than I wanted to stop, so I have to back in. And as the back half of my car is in the driveway, I look up and coming right at me in the south bound lane is and SUV. Except he's NOT in the southbound lane only. He's in the northbound lane too. And hits my car. I have no bumper now. Or bumper beam. Or a working radiator. And the motor wouldn't start and sounded like "poo poo" when I tried. And it looks twisted. I've hardly had this car for two "procreating" months.
Oh, and the "O Ring" hat took off on me. Luckily the little bit of snow on the ground showed the tracks of the vehicle and where my car was when he hit me, so the cop agreed with me that I wasn't in his lane.
I hate people so "procreating" much. I try to make sure someone's okay and get hit by an "O Ring" as a reward. Oh, the vehicle was empty. And got towed after my car.

For those of us in the Northeast corridor snow has been a common occurrence in the winter months. No two wheeling for a bit until the roads are clear or if you have tire studs or three wheels.Wrider wrote:You + Subaru = No good...
Sorry to hear that bud, hope you get a new car soon!
Til then it's a good time to ride the Ninja...
Sucks to hear about your Subaru. Did the cop bother to follow the SUV's tracks and also look for a damaged SUV?
Maybe a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo would be a better bet for you.

Heh says you to the guy who was raised in Colorado Springs, CO, and is currently sitting in a motel room in Gunnison, CO right now. I just figured the roads were clear for now.JC Viper wrote:For those of us in the Northeast corridor snow has been a common occurrence in the winter months. Whenever I actually have money to get a car (I'll probably get another bike first) I really wanted to get the Lancer.
However my biggest gripe with it is that the paddle shifters (f1 style) give you 6 speed but if you want the regular stick shift you only get 5 speed!
Totally weak
I'd probably get a 335i pre-owned, those are sick

Sorry to hear about your new car being hit and smashed. That's aweful that the SUV took off on you! I wonder though as your car got smashed up quite badly that there were any SUV parts around to identify them?
That SUV would have sustained a lot of damage and needed repair itself, someone could have noticed it at a gas station or on the road. Hopefully they get them, its hard to sneak a busted up SUV home and get it in for a repair without questions being asked...
How was that Subaru to drive? Would you get another one?

Your avatar listed AZ/Glendale and I forgot you moved back to CO. Those people in AZ get some nice dry weather don't they?Wrider wrote:Heh says you to the guy who was raised in Colorado Springs, CO, and is currently sitting in a motel room in Gunnison, CO right now. In any case being that it was snowing or the roads were slick any garage that services the SUV will assume it slipped and hit a guardrail or something just like a lot of other cars traveling on icy roads.

I couldn't find any SUV parts. I looked. The statey looked. The police chief looked. Nada. And yes, Mike, my next car will be another Subaru. Probably going to go back to the Impreza this time around. They're fun cars and get decent gas mileage. Nimble, too. And surprisingly comfortable for a big guy like me. Though I'm also considering a VW, older Audi A4 or 100, Nissan 240SX, and maybe an old 3 series BMW. Maybe. I'm still debating if I want to be "that guy" in a BMW.
And if I had a sidecar rig, I'd say "fudge" getting a new car til spring. Heh.
