Has anyone removed the Anti-Vibration Weights from Handle Bars?
Myself and a friend tried to do this and we could not get them off. The screw would just not budge and I think the screw is aluminum because it felt like we were going to strip it so we stopped.
The only reason I could think of those screws being stuck is that it's been around 5-10 degrees for about a week. Would the unbridled cold really hold a bolt in like that? Or is there another problem?
I don't want to take it to the dealer for something so easy but I know it'll be a whole lot more expensive if that screw gets stripped.
I'm talking about #5 and #6

1. your link was broken (it might have been me
)
2. WD-40 if not already tried. (its saved me $$$$$$$$$$$)
3. if they are actually aluminum it is possible that the cold will cause it to contract making it harder to remove. can u put a burnsematic/acetylene to it?

When I changed the handlebars on my old GS I left the weights off to see how it felt. I only rode for about thirty minutes and I could feel a slight difference. I think on a long ride it would have effected me more. I put them back on after that ride and left them on.
