Bike Bandit Webstore rant

#1 Unread post by Social Distortion »

So i inquired about a jacket i wanted on Bike Bandit and they said they could get a hold of it.
As im ready to make my purchase, i told the sales person that for XMas, i asked my family to buy me gift cards so that i could buy a $350+ triumph jacket.
So i have like 4 gift cards.
BB rep tells me that i can only use 1 gift card per order.
so i use my $50 gift card and pay the remaining $300 on the jacket w/ my own money and have $200 worth of gift cards laying around?
Sucks man...
What the heck?
Talk about a major bring down..im bumming man...really sucks.
To take responsibility, I should have read the finer print ( still dont know where its at) about only using 1 gift card per transaction.
Moral- though they have fair prices, if you're gonna ask for gift cards, make sure you only buy 1 in the amount that you want to use because you wont be able to use your other cards reghardless of the amount on them.
So now i have these gift cards, not enough for my riding jacket and gotta find a way to pay for the jacket via credit card and get stuck w/ pre paid gift cards-
Bumms me out- thanks for listening

That sucks alright.

Here in Canuckada they recently passed legislation against stunts like that. Companies must honor gift certificates and cards like cash now, no set-up/initiation charges, no having to use it all at once or lose the remainder, no service charges, and such as that. Somebody paid them cash for that card at time of purchase, they have to abide by it now. About time, companies were scamming their customers with no penalty or justification, just bending them over and abusing the people who kept them in business.... :frusty:
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

That's usually the case with gift cards. You cannot combine them and only one per customer per visit. This at least gets me thinking to myself "do I really need it?" before I waste a good gift card on something useless.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Have you tried politely pushing it a bit more? Ask for a supervisor and explain you want to give them money and a great way to win your continued business is to take multiple gift cards.

If that fails you can buy a tire or two on separate orders.

i have never heard of any company allowing only 1 card to be used per transaction- they have the money already....what the hell?
i can goto McDonalds and have 10 gift cards and they'll accept them all.

i called customer service and they gave me some crap excuse that they can not input more than 1 card.
I contacted the BBB and i will be calling the Illinois and california Attorney General to file a complaint.
At least, it'll get thier lawyers busy and $250 an hour, it'll be more of a hassle and expense for them to fight legal issues and let me redeem my gift cards.
the purpose is simply to warn people becauase they dont have it posted anywhere on their website about this practice. If i would have know i could only use 1 card, i would have gotten my inlaws, wife and sister to pool thier money and get me 1 card...thats it, everyone's happy, but it was never written anywhere about that and thats why i'm steaming mad right now...and i think that fact alone will get the BBB and the State Gen. Attny to inquire...

If the policy isn't posted where the customer can access it, then usually it is not enforceable.

Go back and ask for the policy, in writing. They have to provide that, if you ask. That's pretty universal.
