No argument that rider education is key in preventing most crashes. But too few riders ever bother to take a BASIC motorcycle training course (unless it means they can get an MVA/DMV test waiver), let alone anything more advanced that is available.
So, how to solve that dilemna?

MZ33 is right: I'm saying accident reports often don't have enough information in them. If this was improved, rider training would have an easier time knowing what to emphasize.
Getting riders to take training is a whole different issue that I never mentioned.

I beg to differ (or did I misinterpret?):

What did you mean by "rider education" if not training? And, what would be the point of improving rider education, if we can't get folks to use it?

I believe you did misinterpret. I didn't mention getting riders to take training. The item I mentioned was about acquiring proper training curriculum based off the hopes of more accurate accident reports.
If you want to discuss ways of increasing the amount of trained riders, you can start a thread about that subject. If you want to talk about NHTSA accident reports and numbers with their current problems, we can talk more about it here.
