I've never been to Europe, sadly for me, but my general thoughts on toll roads are that they are usually better roads and less traffic. But that might just be an American thing, as we can be kinda stupid.

I've seen some documentaries on Germany's Autobahn. I LOVED the idea of sliding scale tickets depending on your wealth. That way the same stupidity hurts the rich brat as much as the blue collar guy. Just diff mark amounts.

Tbh I've only ever done france in a car... that said, the toll roads are very good and worth the money, in my opinion, if you're focused on getting places quickly.

However france does have some very good roads. I can't remember the name, but they have special "scenic" routes, some of which are truly amazing. If you could follow one of them then it would be a very nice ride, although obviously you'd take longer to arrive

Not sure on specific prices I'm afraid, sorry. It won't be mega amounts though. You could always choose whether to use them when you arrived and saw the prices? Unless you need to know for planning the routes?

I have driven all over Europe/UK, in fact, in 2007 we drove all over france when we followed the "tour de france".

The motorways are ok, they are fuking over priced though in my opinion, I used all types of roads, including back roads and never had any issues, the french really look after their carriage ways in in rural france.

As for tolls on bikes, i get the feeling its no cheaper for a bike over a car, i cant remember seeing any different pricing for various vehicles.

I did both the 2 types of toll lanes, the ones where you hand money to an operator and the ones that were automated, and the automated ones never asked what type of vehicle we were in.

Some of the longer toll roads cost up to 24 euro, and shorter trips down to about 5-6 euro.

Hope that helps
