Strange, MCN calculates their power to weight figure by weight /hp.

Let's see, I suppose it depends on what you are trying to calculate.

Horsepower per pound = hp/weight. So, my car is like 134 hp but weighs 3500 pounds (probably more) = means my car has .038 hp per pound.

My bike has 160 hp, but weighs 560 pounds = .28 hp per pound.

If you want to know how many pounds you are moving per hp - then you do the opposite. So, my car is moving 26 pounds per hp, and my bike is moving 3.5 pounds per hp.

Of course, the claimed hp for my bike is 180 hp which even more to the advantage of the bike. But these two pieces of information are related to each other. I think the first one give you the ratio of power - the second just the amount of weight being moved around by the engine.

And I didn't include my fully laden weight to the bike, but it would have to be an incredible amount to match up with the performance of my poor old car.

One that you are very careful with the throttle? I've had more problems with its weight than the HP, actually.

Although I have been running it in "B" mode - which runs 114 hp.

The 180 hp and 114 hp are both at the shaft. No one has measured b mode at the shaft, but the dyno runs for it in A mode come out to 162 hp.

Even with all this hp, it doesn't come close to the golden numbers.

1 hp per cubic inch and 1 hp per pound. I think even my old Honda Civic had over 1 hp per pound in 1992, but 1 hp per pound would be machine that can move incredibly fast.

But yeah, even in "B" mode I have more hp than I'll ever need and it gets 40mpg so far. Its like having my old civic in terms of mpg and a 500+ hp corvette at the same time.
