Just passed the Riders Edge skills test

#1 Unread post by zevonincincy »

Its been a long winter since my first trip around the block.

viewtopic.php?t=30689

All that looking at the bike and waiting........

But I just passed the 1st Riders Edge skills test of 2009. All I have to do is make it to the final class Monday night and I will have my endorcement.

I would like to be on record as yet another person that believes these beginner courses should be manditory for those that are new.

Not sure how well I could have done without all the reading and pointers here, but as it stands now it all came together and I am good to go.

YEAH ! ! ! Now all I need is to really learn something about being out on the road with the rest of the world. LOL

Congrats in advance! I take it that your riding test is on Monday? If so, good luck and stay focused.

Two sure-fire ways to impress your examiner and maximise your points are:

1) Revving the bejezus out of the engine, then popping the clutch in order to demonstrate your control and mastery of the bike by doing U-turns and Figure-o-Eights demos only on your rear wheel.

2) During the emergency braking test, head towards your examiner as fast as the bike will go, then pull a stoppie just inches from his or her toes, additional points are awarded if you can give the a light kiss on their nose before the rear wheel drops back to earth.

Oh, and good luck with the test, and as you said, now the real education begins. Have fun and be safe.
Always ask why.

Humm, Must have had some trouble speaking through this big grin.

We had our skills test yesterday and I have already passed.

Our last class is to review the course, pick up our card for the DMV, and I'm sure get another HD commercial. LOL

All kidding aside, I could not have learned any more in a 4-5 day period and my confidence level in my ability to learn more relatively safely is very high. I know its a beginners course, but I'm a beginner, and just knowing I can do some of the things I will be required to do helps more than I can write in a few words.

Weather is getting better here in the midwest and I am really looking forward to many rides this year. This has been something I have wanted to do for so long, and now I feel capable of riding as safely as anyone who is new can ride.

Lots more to learn, lots of miles to ride.

The classes are great even for long time riders.
I take the advance classes every so often, learn alot every time.
I follow a new highway I haven't traveled before.
