CX500. My father had one, and I had the CX650E a little later on. The 650 was a great bike. The 500........eh....maybe not so much.

wich one was it X? i'm thinking he cx might be right? not sure how far back the shadows went. and were the magnas all V4s and what about the old ns two stroke road racers i know the TZ yamahas were Vs way back.good question.

i'm pretty sure high side is right about the cx. all the twins before that were parallel iirc

had a cx500 too, first bike. thought is was the greatest thing ever, then i bought a nighthawk - jesus what a difference.

I have a GL500 and a GL650. They are great bikes as far as I am concerned. I have less than $3000 in the 2 bikes and they run great. With insurance costs the way they are, a mid sized bike saves a lot of $'s too.

I cannot think of a single V twin built by Honda, they do build some V-2 motors but not a V twin.

A V twin uses a single crank pin and female and male rods so both cyl are perfectly lined up, a V-2 uses a two offset rods like a car motor.

Here is what Wixpedia says

"V-twin" to mean the classic V design of a shared crank pin for each pair of cylinders and "V-2" to indicate a boxer-style crank with a separate crank pin for each cylinder

They also give credit to the 83 Honda Shadow as being the first V-2, BUT Harley built one in the late 50s that resembled a Yamaha Virago (prototype that they only built 6, one is still in HDs factory museum)

You are now splitting hairs.

If we took everything by it's true literal definition, the Harley Davidson Motor Company is actually named wrong.

A motor by it's true definition cannot be powered by fuel. It must be powered by another form of input source, such as electricity, a flow of hydraulic fluid or compressed air.

Oh yeah, something about their name has never really sounded right thanks now I can put my finger on it, it seems that Harley has a knack for doing the wrong thing and getting away with it. BUT I think that they were misusing motor another way. It is also a term meaning motorcar, and I believe HD was trying to identify with the auto industry. Remember that back then most manufacturers made Motocycles unlike Harley who made Motorcycles
