Less Painful Factory Parts ??

#1 Unread post by Wingnumberone »

I guess this is the best place to put this - as anyone in here is wrenching on something . . . .

Does anyone have a decent connection for factory parts that is a little less aggressively-priced. I know you can expect to get hammered when you go for factory stuff, but the damage varies.

I recently needed new carb slides and choke diaphragms (2 sets) for a GL1500 I'm putting together. The Local Honda dealer wanted $122.00 each (plus 6% state sales tax) - or $258.00.

I found this place http://www.ronayers.com/browseparts online, and they had 'em for $90.00 each + $15.00 shipping - or $195.00.

. . . . better (I bought 'em), but still pretty rough. Does anyone know of a more reasonble factory supplier ??
Goldwings - If it's between your legs, it might as well be enormous, and smooooooth.

Ron Ayers is pretty well known for having good prices. Did you try http://www.bikebandit.com/ ? There is also a banner here on this site, it's one of the page headers. I haven't compared prices on there yet.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

There are a few Wing parts places taht are quite a bit cheaper than dealer.

http://www.saber-cycle.com/

http://www.vencowings.com/

http://www.usedgoldwingparts.com/home.html

http://www.wingstuff.com/

I have delt with the first two, no problems. The third one is mainly used parts. And Wingstuff carries GL 1500 and 1800 parts only (I have a gl1200)

Also try this fourm:

I'm familiar with all 4 of those vendors, and have been a member of that forum for nearly 2 years.

You will always beat the prices of #3 on eBay, from my experience, and #1 on the list sells a lot of Chinese knock-off stuff, and sub-standard carb kits.

Aftermarket parts and accesories are no problem with GoldWings. It's the factory parts, made by Honda - that I was referring to.

The issue with Ebay is any selling it when you need it and is it in the condition they say it is if you need a working part. Of course there are ways to reduce your chances of getting ripped but that's also why you should pay less at Ebay. If not just buy new 3rd party OEM parts for a few more $$ and besure your getting quality parts.

For me Ebay never seems to have what I need, when I need it. So I pay a few extra bucks and get a quality part from a known source.
