The Low budget radios worked well. We clipped the radios to our backpacks and they were fine.The headsets fit well in the helmets with no major problems. Range is awesome and the sound was ample enough to be heard over aftermarket pipes, riding, and traffic. The only cons about the radios is that they're a little bulky with all the cords and the radio but its a trade off with being able to communicate with each other. The only other thing is that the head set is not voice activated so you still have to depress a button to talk and that means you can't be talking while doing any serious riding.
Finally the rain has stopped in SF. I took full advantage of it too. I hit the local twisties with my new one piece leathers. The "Dainese - Steel". All I can say is that suit is the best protection I've purchased so far. Very, very, comfortable and that's hard to find with an "off the rack" suit. Especially for my body type which is short and stocky. The only thing I had a complaint about was it was a bit cold but that was my fault for not wearing a wind stopper under the leathers. Anyway, I had it custom lettered with my name.

No, I had them done at this leather place we have in SF called "Johnson's Leathers". Johnson's does a lot of good leather work/repair for the Dainese and other places.
I got to go on another ride today. I checked out Bolinas/Fairfax road to see how much the rain damaged them. Bolinas/Fairfax has just been re-opened. The only damages I saw were from mud slides and tons of leaves and pine needles. I was riding a bit hard today. I lost the rear and the front for a second. Both times I was scared crapless. Good thing I only lost grip for only a split second but it seemed like an eternity.
I finally broke down and got another helmet for my supermoto riding. My old dirtbike helmet is a bit banged up from wear & tear. I love the new Arai lid I got. What a difference a face shield makes compared to MX Goggles. I've had it about a three weeks now and I have nothing but high marks for this Arai. Comfort, fit, ventilation, vision, everything is awesome on this helmet. If you are on the fence about getting one of these hybrid helmets for your dual sport riding I say get one you wont be disappointed.
Just finished putting on the 2k8 Leo Vince GP Pro - Slip on. Every time I look at it I think of the old "Ricola" commercial with the Swedish guys blowing through those horns.
Feeling the weight difference from the stock can was amazing. I believe there's about a 10lbs difference. Anyway, if anyone is thinking of getting this slip-on can one thing to know is you do not need a gasket because the clamp included with the slip-on substitutes as the gasket and a new OEM gasket is to small for the pipe. I made sure by calling up Leo Vince tech support because the directions given with the pipe wasn't clear. I ended up wasting $20 for a oem gasket. I also put on some levers from Pazo, some yoshi engine guards, and some spools.
Worked on my bro's front brakes on his DRZ 400sm. Man, did he need them changed. He wore his brakes to the bone. It was metal on metal. To many stoppies!

Ive seen that on mountain bike brakes but never motorcycles. must have had lots of talent to keep doing stoppies with no pads left. How old were the brakes?
The brake pads were old about 8k on them. What happened was my bro kept doing stoppies then all of a sudden on one of his stoppies he heard a grinding sound and then we checked the brakes and found out he had no padding left.
