Debating
About to retire and would like to take several bike tours the first couple of years. Have not rode a bike in many years and will definitely take some lessons and do a lot of practice miles before heading out. I reside in Columbus GA most of the year and am looking for a good school. I am 5'9" and weigh 160 pounds with a 32 inseam. I am thinking of the Honda Shadow aero and debating on the 750 or 1100. I feel I would better control the 750 in town but am concerned that I may find it lacking in the mountains when fully loaded. I don't care about breakneck speed but do want some pick up and go when needed.

Will you be riding 2 up or solo?
I toured with my 650 V-Star through some mountainous terrain. It only lacked rarely on certain occasions such as not being able to get the speed up prior to the ascent.....darn motor homes.....
Other than that, it was just fine.
However....if you want a lower RPM ride, then the 1100 Honda would be better.
